Troubleshooting

Events not showing up

The script is on your site but the dashboard is empty. Here is what to check.

Check the snippet

Press Check installation on your site's page in emberbee. It loads your home page and looks for the snippet:

  • Found. The snippet is in place. Open your site in a browser, then read on if no visit appears.
  • A snippet for a different site. The page has a site id from another of your sites. Copy this site's snippet and replace it.
  • Not found. Add the snippet to the <head> of every page. If a tag manager adds it, this check can't see it, and you can skip this step.

You are testing on localhost

The script sends nothing from localhost, 127.0.0.1, or a file opened from disk. Test on your live site, or add data-allow-localhost to the script tag while you try it locally. See the HTML guide.

The page is on another domain

emberbee keeps events only from your site's domain and its subdomains. A site for example.com accepts www.example.com and shop.example.com, but not a preview address such as example.vercel.app or a tunnel.

Open your site's settings and look at Ignored events. It counts the events from the last 30 days that came from other domains. If your site has moved, change its domain there. Your existing data stays.

You turned off your own visits

If you ran localStorage.setItem("emberbee_ignore", "1") in this browser, it sends nothing. Run this in the console on your site to be counted again:

localStorage.removeItem("emberbee_ignore");

A blocker stops the script

Some ad blockers and privacy extensions block analytics scripts. Try your site in a private window with extensions turned off. Visitors who block the script are not counted.

The visit came from a bot

emberbee ignores bots, crawlers, uptime monitors, and headless browsers, which end-to-end tests and page speed tools often run in. Those visits are counted under Ignored events in your site's settings instead.

A custom event is missing

An event with more than 20 details, a name longer than 64 characters, or a text value longer than 256 characters is not recorded at all. See the limits in Custom events.

Your trial or plan has ended

When a trial ends without a plan, the dashboard locks right away, and emberbee stops recording events 7 days later. Pick a plan on the billing page to start recording again within a minute.
