The emberbee tracking script sets no cookies.
The tracking script
The script that site owners add to their sites sets no cookies. It does not write to local storage, session storage, or anything else on the visitor's device. It counts unique visitors with a visitor id that changes every day, worked out on our server. The privacy policy explains how.
The script reads one local storage key, emberbee_ignore. Site owners set it in their own browser to stop counting their own visits. The script never sets it.
This website
The public pages of emberbee.app, such as this one, set no cookies. They count visits with the emberbee script. If you are signed in to the dashboard, your browser still sends the app's cookies below with each request.
The emberbee app
When you sign in to the emberbee dashboard, it sets only the cookies it needs to work. None of them track you.
- Session. Keeps you signed in. It ends when you sign out or the session expires.
- Sign-in state. Short-lived. Set only while you sign in with Google or GitHub, to protect the sign-in from forgery.
- Theme. Set only when you choose Light or Dark in the account menu. It lasts one year.
Changes
If emberbee ever adds an optional visitor id that stays on the device, it will be off by default, and we will update this notice before it ships.
